Dear Colleague,

We cordially invite you to the Antwerp Academic Cardiology Symposium organised by the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA) in collaboration with the cardiology departments of all the Antwerp hospitals (ZNA Ziekenhuisnetwerk Antwerpen; GZA Gasthuiszusters Antwerpen; KLINA; Monica; AZ St. Dimpna Geel and St. Jozef Malle of the Universitair Cardiologisch Netwerk Antwerpen UCNA).

The academic symposium will alternate from now on between encounters with our Mayo Clinic colleagues (like over the past 4 years) and colleagues from an important European university.

This year we will host renowned colleagues from the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam (AMC). Together, we have created a program that addresses new developments in our field. Starting from concrete patient cases, we will illustrate how research experience leads to new ways to tackle daily clinical situations. We guarantee you a great learning experience on which we are happy to meet you soon.

Looking forward to meet you in Antwerp!

Also on behalf of Prof. dr. Paul Vermeersch (ZNA), dr. Roeland Vercauteren (GZA), dr. Frank Cools (KLINA), dr. Peter Surmont (Monica), dr. Jan Vermeulen (AZ St. Dimpna) and dr. Bram Amsel (St. Jozef Malle)

Research discussion meeting on Friday May 4th in the afternoon

Prof. dr. W. Kok and Prof. dr. H. Tan will already be in Antwerp on May 4th in the afternoon. We will set up an open research discussion meeting around the topics “heart failure” and “sudden death”. Researchers (PhD students and their promotors) from all Flemish universities are invited. They will have the opportunity to pitch their research in short presentations, which will be discussed by Prof. dr. Kok, Prof. dr. Tan and by the other attendees. This afternoon may form an ideal platform to develop new insights and network with colleagues that have the same research and clinical interests.

The discussion will take place in the boardroom ('raadzaal') at UZA. You can follow route 4 to reach the room.

If you register for this: please also indicate the title of your short 10 min presentation.
